EXPERIENCES
Qollqa Path
How is knowledge preserved in the Andes?
In the Andes, preserving is a practice of survival and knowledge. Seeds, food, and wisdom that endure over time are kept. From this principle emerged the storage systems that sustained entire civilizations.
INTRODUCTION TO THE TOUR
In three hours, you will walk the paths that the communities neighboring MIL travel during their agricultural and herding activities. You will begin at MIL, where a local guide will introduce you to the work of Mater.
MEETING WITH THE COMMUNITY
Afterward, you will visit the Kollparay sector of the K’acllaraccay community, where a host family will welcome you into their home to prepare a dish whose recipe has been passed down from generation to generation.
THE QOLLQA MATER
The path to the Qollqa will reveal the relationships between plants, crops, climate, and the surrounding ways of life.
Before entering, you will participate in an offering. Inside, you will learn about the storage principles that inspired this experimental space, developed together with the community, researchers, and specialists.
The Qollqa Mater does not replicate the warehouses of the past; it investigates how their principles can be reinterpreted today.
BACK TO MIL
The tour concludes with a stop in front of the Inca agricultural laboratory of Moray, before returning to MIL to continue exploring the territory through the tasting menu.
